Former George W. Bush speechwriter who coined the phrase "axis of evil" was apparently willing to risk his GOP cred by speaking truth to Fox News and talk radio. He was even willing to go as far as pointing out the correlation between Fox News and their viewers having less factual knowledge of world events.
Frum wrote a News and Features article for New York Magazine in November 2011 titled, "When Did the GOP Lose Touch With Reality?" It is a long article but I encourage you to bookmark it; it helped me better understand what has happened to the GOP from someone who is actually willing to acknowledge it publicly.
Here is an example of what happens when organizations use conflict and division to make a living:
From CBS News: An Arkansas political campaign manager was shocked to discover his family pet with one side of its head bashed in -- and the word "liberal" scribbled across the corpse in paint. More...
I include this photo not to be gruesome but to illustrate what happens when your neighbor is perceived as different and bad because of how they vote. Fortunately, it was reported the five-year-old child who first found the family cat could not read the word to make a connection.
After I wrote this, I scrolled down to see that I had posted the "Newt as Chucky" photo, so I am having to reflect on how much I contribute to this divisiveness. I personally don't think it compares since it is more pop culture and cartoonish, plus I do not have that many page hits in a day's time. We should all step back and examine closely what we contribute to the conversation.

It is true, that Fox News is alternative media when it comes to the national network news. All of the rest are in lock step with the same leftist view. Which is OK unless you are among the many on the left who want Fox News censored for daring to not have the exact same slant as the others.
dmarks - I don't think news organizations thought they were "leftist" until pronounced as such by Fox News. They were reporters of the news. Fox does not have to be censored, but everyone who watches it should understand its origin, why it continues, and that its viewers are less knowledgeable about news events that those who get their news from other sources.
Thank you for commenting.
When did this divide between 'NEWS' and the truth occur or has it always been with us?
All media is censorship, a concerted and deliberate itinery of misrepresentation either to feed an agenda or just blindly promoting a previous wrong through utter laziness. Fox News is simply a few steps ahead of everyone else... a few steps more facile and shallow, a few steps less factual and informative, a few steps further into controlling the poulation through fear and ignorance.
Fox News thanks you for remaining ignorant.
