UA Game Day: Week 3

University of Alabama Crimson Tide v North Texas Mean Green

The photo is from Alabama's website, www.rolltide.com. The website design company does an outstanding job with this site, and the videos really set the mood for the day. I want their blog design!!

This is (almost) the perfect SEC football Saturday. LSU prevailed in a defensive battle over Mississippi State last Thursday night. Today, we have Auburn at 11:00, Tennessee v Florida at 2:30, and Alabama's game tonight at 6:30. I will be checking in on Ole Miss v Vanderbilt, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Arkansas during the day, as well. What would make this the perfect football Saturday would be if Alabama and Auburn were playing SEC opponents.

Defensive games can sometimes make boring television but I have to hand it to Mississippi State for hanging in there with LSU after such a devastating ending to the Auburn game the preceding Saturday. It must have been difficult for the offense to focus on LSU five days later. I used to tease that Auburn would freeze and blow games in the last few minutes. Apparently, they have overcome this flaw as they are continuing their streak of winning in the last few minutes. This is why, I think, rookie NFL and former Auburn quarterback, Cam Newton, looked so surprised and disappointed last Sunday when Carolina lost in the last few minutes. His QB coach, Mike Shula, has experience to help him through losses. Ouch! I love Shula. Really.

I'm off subject. Have a great football Saturday, and Roll Tide!
