The Treadmill Desk

I suppose everyone has seen this except me, right? What a great idea...in moderation, of course. I have this vision of overzealous, greedy and shallow employers whipping their employees into shape by making them walk eight hours a day to save a few dollars in health insurance premiums!

I will admit that when I had a hospital job where I walked or stood most of the day and took the stairs because I did not have time to wait on an elevator, I did not have a weight problem. Only after I took a job sitting eight hours a day did I start to have weight issues, muscle atrophy, and joint pain. Of course, I aged during that time as well.

This indeed would be a "luxury" but could be worth it in the long run. I'd love to hear from you if you have one or have tried one. What say you?

I think it would become the best place in the world to put all one's shoes. That way they would rotate and we could see each day which pair we haven't worn in three years.
Something akin to that exer-bike-thing that has truly become the best clothes hanger ever invented.
