On Wednesday, my adopted state and cities (both Birmingham and Tuscaloosa) suffered devastating damage from tornadoes and severe weather. Also, Mississippi classmates were affected by these storms. Some of our blogger friends are without power. All across the south, people felt the weight of this event.
Here in Birmingham, there is an amazing group of young people who are organizing relief efforts via social media. As one young woman told me recently, her generation did not wait for the government, they did it themselves, that they "are the generation of hope and change". They truly are and I have tremendous respect for them.
Magic City Post.com has an excellent summary of the events from Wednesday plus the many opportunities available on how to help. Please keep Alabama and the southern US in your thoughts.
