Disaster Volunteers: Don't Forget To Take Care of Yourselves

Despite the events on Wednesday and the overwhelming task ahead of us, volunteers should not forget how important it is to take care of themselves during this time. Getting enough sleep is crucial. Relaxing is crucial. The effects of such devastation can cause tremendous psychological stress on caregivers.

With that in mind, there are several events in Birmingham this weekend where one can go to relax, be with friends and enjoy what our great city has to offer.

Magic City Art Connection - April 29th, April 30th and May 1st in Linn Park
Free Admission
From finding art to attending workshops to meeting new friends to eating good food, Magic City Arts Connection is one of my all-time Birmingham favorites. Corks and Chefs (admission fee required) gives one the opportunity to taste-test foods by various Birmingham chefs and selected wines. Beautiful park, beautiful day, beautiful event. Lebanese Food and Culture Festival - April 29th, April 30th

WorkPlay - April 29th

6 p.m. - Special "Sound Check" performance
I saw Amos Lee at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, and he remains one of my favorite musicians. No tickets are available at the time of this post but I wanted to include it to draw your attention to what wonderful events Birmingham has to offer on any given weekend.

Sweet Birmingham!
