Sweet Birmingham

After the horrific news about the senseless poisoning of historic oak trees in Toomer's Corner at Auburn University, I was happy to see there would be positive news out of Birmingham this weekend. First, several Birmingham chefs and restaurants are James Beard Finalists, and now three of my favorite places will be highlighted this weekend on CNN's Headline News.

Friday through Sunday, Birmingham will be the focus of a 2.5-minute CNN Headline News segment called, "My City, My Secret," which looks at a city's hidden "gems." 

Birmingham entrepreneur Deontee Gordon, 27, will talk about Railroad Park, Urban Standard and the What's On 2nd store, which are all located downtown. The segments will air Friday at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. . (Continue reading)
