Everything to Say, Nothing to Say

I have been relatively quiet about the oil spill in the Gulf. It feels like everything to say has been said.  These incidents chisel just a little more off what I consider my spirit and optimism, despite how hard I try to prevent it. "Hope is good," my brother tells me when I start my cheery little scenarios.  My hope has been taking an ass-kicking lately.

I am not too shy to take a few pot shots:
1) Tax cuts for the wealthy and looser regulations for corporations are not the solutions to every situation so please, for the love of your god, please move beyond that.
2) Libertarianism is only good in principle. As usual, it appears there are no libertarians in a crisis.
3) We took it in the... gulf...when oil executives were elected appointed to office.

Secondly, it is not just BP. It is all of us. What are we going to do about it?  Southern Beale had some good suggestions in the post, Boycott Petroleum:
1) Take fewer car trips.
2) Eat less meat.
3) Buy a block of green power (check local electric service company).
4) Raise (or lower) the thermostat.

I thought the Gulf would be there forever. Didn't you?
