Imagine was a game Tim Wise at AlterNet suggested yesterday: Imagine that hundreds of black protesters descended on DC armed with AK-47s. Would they be defended as patriotic Americans? Or, more specifically: What if the Tea Party were black?
Here's another one: Imagine that a rap artist were to say, in reference to a white president: “He’s a piece of shit and I told him to suck on my machine gun.” Because that’s what rocker Ted Nugent said recently about President Obama.
As Mr. Wise reminded us, this is what white privilege is all about. To play more Imagine games, continue reading here....

Thanks for posting this. I went over and read the rest of the "what ifs" that were asked. The post definitely makes you think. I plan on linking to AlterNet later this week.
When I read the "imagine" about Ted Nugent, I was reminded of something he said recently in the UK about President Obama.

When compared to Natalie Maines' comments about Bush a few years ago, it does show how conservatives react as opposed to liberals.
Malcolm - I had the opportunity to observe this yesterday. A woman (black) walked into our unmarked and unlocked office yesterday to ask directions. Someone, who is white and a staunch supporter of gun rights, said "good thing she wasn't carrying an AK-47". I asked if she viewed that as a threat or as expressing her second amendment rights? She responded by relating black woman = Obama supporter = against guns = threat.
Unfortunately, I don't know how much questions like this spark debate and/or further reflection or just, in some cases, cut off communication altogether.
Thanks for the comment.
