An Early New Year's Resolution

I'm going back to the movies. The last film I saw in a theater was ''Sex and the City: The Movie". An avid fan of the HBO series, I realize this was more high fashion than high art but I was already invested! Side note: I saw this in Hendersonville, Tennessee and because I have since seen her name just about everywhere, I'll mention that Taylor Swift, the young country singer/songwriter/award winner, was in line in front of me. Impressed?:)

There are some films that need to be experienced on the big screen. Some films, like Saving Private Ryan and The Departed, are almost too much for even the big screen. I watched Gran Torino last night and decided it was time to return to the theater. Despite the many disappointments and the really bad movies that seem to come to my town, there are some just worth the time and effort to see on the big screen.

I plan to start on December 16th with Crazy Heart starring Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Watch the trailer and listen to the theme song "The Weary Kind (Theme from The Crazy Heart)" written by Ryan Bingham and T-Bone Burnett, sung by Ryan Bingham. I'm as taken in by the advertising as much as the next person but a story of redemption can't be too bad.

Wow, Taylor Swift was right in front of you?! One of my co-workers would be really jealous!

I need to get to the theater again myself because it's been too long. I'm ashamed to say what the last movie was that I saw at the theater.

Hi Malcolm - My nephew would be impressed, too.

There is the expense and the noise and the inability to pause, etc. Gee, I've almost talked myself out of my first New Year's resolution! It is nice to see some films in the theater with an adult audience.

I miss movies. But with the small fortune that I pay for cable, I just can't justify it.

Pam - I hear you. I'm saving my theater visits for those I know will be really worth it (and they are few and far between)!
