The Annual Christmas Shuffle

Just like the Christmas trees and Christmas music that appear in shopping malls on Labor Day weekend, the faux outrage about the 'War on Christmas' is never far behind. It has become as predictable as hearing the dogs barking Jingle Bells. Leading the annual charge is, of course, Fox News and their infotainers.

The use of Season Greetings and Happy Holidays set these folks off like nothing else. It a conspiracy, I say, a conspiracy! More like a tasteless vanilla swirl.

Screw the term political correctness; this is our nation's reality. And, it is a good reality. It is a big country full of many people, cultures, and religions that add a richness to who we are as an ever-evolving and improving country.

In my neighborhood alone, there is a Christian church on every corner (sometimes two or three). You may celebrate Christ in Christmas everyday there if you choose. The doors are open to you. Please, go in. Look around you - Christmas is everywhere. Celebrate and enjoy it before you miss it.

I'll make you guys a deal. The day you give up Santa Claus and everything those goes along with that THEN I might be able to take you seriously. I have no doubt that you feel very strongly about Jesus being your personal reason for the season. Why won't you just leave the rest of us alone, those of us who want to celebrate everyone's reasons for the season? For the love of God, stop. Just stop.

Excellent post Judi. This so-called war on Christmas is a joke. When I worked retail, my goodbye greeting to customers was "Happy Holidays". If that offended any of them, they never voiced it to me. It's a shame that these "war on Christmas" conspirators don't realize that the world has changed and that it's not just about Christmas anymore.

Malcolm - Thanks. I was reluctant to even acknowledge this silliness. I can't believe it honestly offends anyone; I suspect they are just taking a position.
