I'll be sharing the Thanksgiving table with someone else's family this year so I'll be an observer rather than a participant in this dynamic we call family.
I listened to suggestions from a family counselor on NPR today, one who actually has to facilitate holiday survival classes for the families he counsels. A few of his suggestions to remember and practice:
1) Each child is born into a different family.
2) A parent is only as happy as the unhappiest child.
3) Parents need their children more than children need their parents.
4) Put aside differences for a 24-hour period and concentrate on the family as a whole being.
Yes, it's your blood. Try not to draw any tomorrow:) Happy Thanksgiving!
