First let me say I'm disappointed that True Blood was shut out of the major Emmy Award nominations. While Anna Paquin carries weight as a previous Oscar winner for The Piano (1993) and is strong in the role, I do get weary of the fake Southern accent and hope that she will work on that before next season. However, Nelsan Ellis's Lafayette brings it to his performance every week and I had hoped he would not be overlooked.
They have been nominated for three Emmys: Outstanding Art Direction for a Single-Camera Series; Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series; and, Outstanding Main Title Design (yes!).
What attracts me to vampires, shape-shifters, maenads, and telepaths? It's the people we know and their interconnectedness: the bond developed in childhood between Sookie and Tara; the ripped, but empty-headed jock, Jason; the quiet, bar owner Sam, who just can't get a break in love; Lafayette, who accepts himself and chooses to stay in his hometown rather than escape where his life might be a little easier; outcasts and young lovers, Hoyt and Jessica; Hoyt's overbearing, deceitful, and recognizable Southern mother; and, living with the fear of the unknown and using the Bible to make the case (see "God Hates Fangs" in the opening). Which is good and which is evil?

what did you think of the finale? i think i know what happened to Bill, but it's only because i read the books. but i could be wrong. it wasn't the way it happened in the book, but i have a hunch. i thought it was pretty good. kind of glad to have Mary Ann gone. can't wait until next season!
Bailey - I haven't read the books so I didn't know how they were going to get Mary Ann out of there! I thought the finale was pretty good, although I don't like cliffhangers. I am interested in seeing what the story is with Sookie; she appears more gifted and stronger than all of them.
Jason cracks me up. My favorite line was when he was quoting lines from movies to Andy and the movie line should have been "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" and Jason said "I love the smell of nail polish in the morning"! LOL!
